Frequently asked questions
How do I compare two PDF documents?
Add the original and the changed version. In Text mode, words removed are shown in red and words added in green, page by page, with a count of what changed.
Can I compare PDFs visually?
Yes. Visual mode shows the two versions' pages side by side with a heatmap over the pixels that differ, and the share of each page that changed. It catches layout, image and signature changes that a text diff misses.
Does it show added or removed pages?
Yes. Pages that exist in only one version are marked as added or removed.
Can I compare scanned PDFs?
Text mode needs a text layer, which scans don't have. Use Visual mode, or run OCR PDF on both files first and then compare the text.
Can I compare plain text instead?
Yes. Paste two versions of any text into the Diff Checker.
Are my PDFs uploaded to compare them?
No. Both files are read and compared in your browser.
Text or Visual?
A common use is checking a revised agreement or offer letter against the version you approved before you sign it, so no clause changes without you noticing.
