Frequently asked questions

How do I add a watermark to a PDF?

Open the PDF, type your text or choose an image, set how it looks, and click Add watermark. You'll get a new PDF with the watermark on the pages you picked.

Can I put my logo on a PDF as a watermark?

Yes. Switch to Image, choose a PNG, JPG or WebP logo, and set its width, opacity and angle. A PNG with transparency works best.

Can I watermark only some pages?

Yes. Enter a range in Pages, such as 2-5. Leave it empty to watermark every page.

Why can't I see a watermark set to Behind content?

Behind content draws it under the page. On scans and pages with a solid background, that background hides it. Use Over content with a low opacity instead. To number the pages too, use Add Page Numbers.

Can I write the watermark in Hindi or another script?

Yes. Choose Noto Sans or Noto Sans Bold, which are picked automatically for non-Latin text. Noto Sans also writes Greek, Cyrillic, Devanagari (Hindi, Marathi, Nepali), Bengali, Gujarati, Odia, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada; Gurmukhi and Malayalam aren't supported yet.

Can a PDF watermark be removed?

A watermark added this way is part of the page content, so it isn't a simple toggle, but someone with a PDF editor could still delete it. It deters copying rather than preventing it. To stop changes, also password protect the PDF.

Choosing a watermark style

A common use in India is marking a copy of an Aadhaar, PAN or passport page with who it's for and why, for example "For bank KYC only", before sending it. Tiled text works best for that. For details that shouldn't be seen at all, such as an account number, redact them instead.

StyleGood for
Large diagonal text in the centre, 20–30% opacityCONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT or COPY on documents you share
Tiled textID copies and statements, where a cropped screenshot should still show the mark
Small logo in a cornerBranding brochures, price lists and reports
Behind contentClean, text-only documents, where it shouldn't cover the words
