Crop Image Online: Free Photo Cropper

Crop a photo freely, to a fixed aspect ratio or to exact pixels, rotate or flip it, and save it in the format you want. Cropping happens in your browser, so the photo is never uploaded.

How to use Image Cropper

  1. Drop an image here or choose a file.
  2. Pick an Aspect ratio (Free, Original, 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 3:4 or 9:16) and drag the crop box or its handles.
  3. For an exact area, type X, Y, Width and Height in pixels. Use Rotate & flip if the image needs turning.
  4. Choose the Format and Quality, then click Download.

Frequently asked questions

How do I crop a picture to a square?

Choose the 1:1 aspect ratio and move the box over the part you want to keep, then download.

Can I type an exact crop size?

Yes. X and Y set the top-left corner and Width and Height set the size, all in pixels.

Can I rotate or mirror an image?

Yes. Rotate left and right turn it by 90°, and the two Flip buttons mirror it horizontally or vertically.

Does cropping reduce image quality?

Cropping only removes pixels; the rest are not resampled. Saving as JPEG, WebP or AVIF re-compresses the image, so use PNG or a quality of 90 or more if you plan to edit it again.

Does cropping upload my photo?

No. Cropping is done in your browser.

Cropping photos and signatures for online forms

Forms with a small KB limit are much easier to meet when the image is cropped tightly first. Crop a photo to the head and shoulders, or a signature to just the ink, then compress it to 20 KB or 50 KB. Fewer pixels of background leaves more of the limit for the detail that matters.

For a fixed print size such as 35×45 mm, the passport size photo maker crops and sizes in one step.
