Resize Image Online: Pixels, Percent or Preset Sizes

Resize an image to an exact pixel size, a percentage, or a preset for social media, screens and passport photos, and save it as JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. The image is resized in your browser and never uploaded, with no sign-up.

How to use Image Resizer

  1. Drop an image here or choose a file.
  2. Type a Width and Height, click a percentage, or pick a size from the Size for list, such as Instagram post or Passport.
  3. Unlock the aspect ratio to change the shape, then choose Fit (pad), Fill (crop) or Stretch.
  4. Choose the Format and Quality, then click Download.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image without stretching it?

Keep the aspect ratio locked, or when you change the ratio choose Fit to pad the image or Fill to crop it, centred. Only Stretch distorts it.

What size is an Instagram post?

1080×1080 px for a square post and 1080×1350 px for a 4:5 portrait post; Stories and Reels are 1080×1920. Instagram also accepts 3:4 portrait photos (1080×1440), which are in the Size for list too. See the Instagram post resizer.

Can I resize a photo for a passport or ID?

Yes. The Passport & ID presets crop the photo to the right shape and save JPEGs at 300 dpi so they print at the correct size. The passport size photo maker starts on the 35×45 mm size.

Does resizing reduce the file size in KB?

Usually, since fewer pixels means a smaller file. If a form sets a KB limit rather than a pixel size, use compress to 50 KB or one of its sibling pages, which shrink to the limit automatically.

Can I make an image bigger without losing quality?

Enlarging can't add detail that isn't there, so an upscaled photo looks softer. Start from the largest original you have. SVG graphics are different: SVG to PNG renders them sharply at any size.

Is my photo uploaded when resizing?

No. The image is resized in your browser.

Preset sizes

Every size in the Size for list, in pixels. Presets crop to fill, centred; choose Fit instead to keep the whole image with padding.
